A flow bench is just a tool, unless everbody has there heads flowed on the same bench by the same guy there will different numbers. We have seen flow sheets that came with fully ported B-1 heads, reworked buy another B-1 shop with a flow sheet with higher numbers and we flow tested them and get lower numbers. The dyno and ET slip will answer whos are better.

This is soooo true! I see guys really overdoing the exhaust ports of cylinder heads. I can tell you that my ex. ports you see here are not much larger than OOTB shape. It's the chamber/valvejob/bowl shape a.k.a. the bell curve that is mostly responsible for exhaust flow.

Great big ex. ports have their place, but you'd be surprised how much they can hurt most engines...

What was the combo? Looks like mid lift #'s on the intake are low too. Are you unhappy with the HP you have?

Tell us more about it...maybe there's a problem elsewhere.

It''s a 14.1 with 4.375 bore, 4.150 stroke, 0 deck, 62cc chambers, coated exhaust ports and valves. 1050 carb with throttle
stop under it. Inake has been port matched only. 2308 bobweight. Cam installed at 109

When you said CNCed i figured they were fully ported..that must explain why your numbers are a bit low. Thats pretty good for just a port match, thats about all mine are too.

Looks to me like it went lean on topend...and there is too much time between peak TQ and peak HP plus look at the hp curve...
This could be:
inefficient ports
header tubes wrong length/size
collector not right length
throttle stop can affect some engines negatively

IMO, the cam could use a tighter lca. I would try tightening the lash and see what happens.
See if power goes up or down, or doesn't change. Then get back to us.
Post the header tube length's, size, collector length from where the 4 tubes end to the collector opening, and collector size.
You'll also need at least 750lbs. open pressure on that cam with B1's. If not, could be slight valve bounce happening, although the A/F doesn't reflect that...do you know why it went up in the 15's????

Headers are 2 1/8 by 30 with 4" collector 12" long. Heads are fully ported, I was talking about the intake being matched to
the heads. Springs are 310 seat 762 open. The jets were 92s timing 36. I wasn't there when it was dynoed but my
friend said no changes were tried. It even has a belt drive.

Without flowing your heads on my bench, it's really too hard to tell for sure...but your midlift #'s are very low! Header could use a bit longer extension, maybe around 15-16" total length but I'd guess if everything else is right, the heads may be the blame. See I said MAY be the blame...LOL!

I guess you would need custom headers made for an A body with a raised deck block.... or does someone make them?

I thought I would give one of Brian's posts about B1 heads a bump since several members are going with B1 heads over the Winter. I think Brian did a great job answering lots of questions with some nice pictures. I know when the Daytona hits the track again the 440-1's will be sitting on the shelf and the B1's will be put to use. Thanks Brian and I wish there were more posts like this again on Mopart's but I guess those days are long gone.

Couldnt agree more.
Tell us about your Combo again John or past B1 engines...
My engine is similar to SuperComp's. 499 Low deck, 14:1 compression, cam is a UltraDyne R8 311...
Couldnt find it on Bullets web site, but has 278° @ 50 and .4544 lobe lift, rockers are 1.75 T&D's so lift is .795 before lash or gross lift.
Not sure on a converter but I would think a 8" 6K would be close. Headers are also Stahl's with 2 1/8 tubes and a 32"-34" length, they are near equal length.
B1 cast single 4 with a 1050 dominator.
Hoping to get this yellow submarine into the 8's. its no heavy weight Id say 2700-2750 lbs with driver.... and 800 HP should Get 'R' Done..

[color:"red"]65 Hemi Belvedere coming soon
[color:"#00FF00"]557" Indy engine 1.07 60ft 144mph in the 8th 2100 lbs package

Should be able to hit 8.60s with good air at 2750, and a well built 499/B1. 8.80s, piece of cake.

8..603 156 mph best, 2905 lbs 549, indy 572-13, alky

As I have said in the past if you cannot make 800hp with a decent set of B1's your doing it wrong. My 67 Valaint was a basic 511 low deck with a good set of B1's that went 9.0's at 150 weiging 3470lbs. My current MC motor seems to run ok

Your stuff flies Al, I would agree the B-1 stuff is stought. Heck my 498" B1-BS makes just under 900HP.

Best Machine and Muscle Motors have done PSO deals and that stuff is real good.

For the money B-1's are hard to beat. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif" alt="" />

How fast and at what weight does that 900HP b1-BS run or is this another FANTASY dyno post?
