hey guys, putting together a stroker 440 (571 cid) with a 6-71 and a Hilborn hat injector, , I have the case(6-71), the hat,...vintage build, I have no drive yet, planning on 1 to 1 drive ratio,..I'd like to use a Weiand Vintage swing arm set up, my question is: is power steering, a stock water pump and alternator possible in this combo?, will i have room for double pulleys?, I don't want to run to long a snout, anybody running PS/alt with a swing arm, if so what drive length are you running?, if not, what other idler set up works with PS and alt/stock water pump?,...I have no problem loosing the PS if needed and going to a manual box, I just don't want a long snout on this set up, if possible,...any ideas as I'm still piecing the drive together and mocking it up,...oh and the other monkey wrench in the set up, I'd like to run a Milodon Gear drive (single idler),....not looking for a "bolt-on" remedy, although that would be nice, but custom machining is no problem, or custom fabbing parts, I 'm just looking for some direction in what I can fit/run
this is basically what the set up looks like, except it'll be on a 440
Thanks Mike

Isn't a 6-71 awfully small for a 571? We have a 8-71 with stock water pump and alternator, canät see any problem with that.

I agree. You will have to overdrive the hell out of it to make a decent amount of boost. At 1:1, I'd be surprised if it made more than 3 lbs. of boost.
I have access to an 8-71 as well (but needing work), hence my post "6-71/8-71 on a 440", the mechanics of the blowers CID aren't in question, as the manifold will accept either the 6-71 or an 8-71, I want to use a Weiand Vintage swing arm idler, along with power steering and an altenator, I don't want the serpintine belt set up on the accessories, I'd like to run double pulleys to run the PS/Alt/factory water pump,...before I invest in the front drive and pulleys, I'd like to hear/see what you guys are running in the way of hard mechanics to run PS/alt/water pump, plus I want to run a fan on the front of the motor, no electric pusher/pull set-ups...thanks
Mike

ummm...for sure 8/71:1 at least...check out RBS SUPERCHARGERS---they have a variety of new and re-furbed blowers..tell"em what you want and he'll hook you up ask for JR...they are good people...just wish i'd have met them a few years earlier,.as i would be running my R/T now instead of still building it
good luck---and if it was me..a 10/71 would be on that beast of an engine
