On a 67 Charger with a 4 speed and no console, the shifter boot trim ring has 4 screw holes. the lower shifter boot,(the one that bolts to the trans with the shifter), has many. this car has been apart for 16 years and I don`t remember how it was originally. Does the lower boot attach to the floor hump with all of the screws in the boot, less the 4 that will go on with the trim ring???

Thanks again.

I'm not familiar with that specific application, but your thinking sure sounds logical...
Boot secured to floor
Carpet over OD of boot bellows
Ring secures carpet & boot
