Normally the date is located on the top of the intake, but on a couple of intakes there are other numbers as 9 X 1 or 9 X 3 where I would expect to see the date. Could any of you tell me what these numbers mean? Do these represent a day? If not, where can I find the build date?

Thanks,
Craig

I'm not sure if it is as simple as 9 X 3 = September 3rd, but there are two 2806301 intakes on ebay with similar date codes (one being 11 X 7). Some water pump housings are coded in the same manner, but I've never seen somebody state the actual decode of the date. That intake was used for two model years (1968 & 1969), so that adds a little more to the mystery (is it 9/3/67 or 9/3/68?). What year & did the format change (for the 2806301 intake) or are they all "number X number".

Is the first number always 1 thru 12 (or 01 thru 12)
& the second number 1 thru 31?

Another point of interest, this intake is bolted to a block with a casting date of 2-8-68. I'll try to get the vin off of the block tomorrow.

So are these dated month X day? What do the 1 and the 2 stand for that are next to the pentastar logo? How do you determine which year they were cast?

Thanks,
Craig

I have 3 or 4 301 intakes , I'll have to make note of the date and such.
