I just wanted to add (from my reading and personal sightings) that the inner door inserts were only done in red on the Tor-red cars. All other exterior colors were supposed to get the woodgrain inserts.

Paul

Well,...I'll add that of the GranCoupes that I parted, the 2 that had red striped interior panels and seats,.....one was Limelight, the other was F8(dark poly green)

Here's a PlumCrazy FC7 GC with red stripe interior

Had one in the 80s for a short while.
Had the rockers, black grille with rect. add-ons, 3 piece molding around an argent tail, Barracuda emblem and GC lock cover, and Black w/woodgrain interior (Gold ext.).
Another I had to sell due to space restrictions, which is why I'm damaged now and have too many!

Hey, car spd is Dec.16, Built at Hamtrack and has the black and white houndstooth with red welt buckets. Don't have any current pics as it is buried in the garage I have a couple from the late 70's but haven't converted or scanned them yet (Sorry)but they still make me smile .

Since we're on this subject here's my P5X9 interior {spd 9-11}...in it's current form... I changed out the am 8 track for a modern stereo and changed the wheel....Still have the original parts but I drive it a few thousand miles every year and I like the Ipod instead of a backseat full of 8 tracks... ...............

The P5X9 interior dictated the red door panel inserts, not the exterior colour.

Though as with the grilles and other trim, substitutions were made on the line (for convenience, laziness or otherwise).

I have a set of original 'Cuda panels with the red inserts as well as a set of Gran Coupe panels with the red inserts

That's "funny", as I used to have 3 complete sets, I parted with one years ago, but kept the other 2, 1 set came out of a Tor-red Cuda, the others out of a Limelight and F8 GC's....probally been holding them for 15-20 years,....had some crazy offers for them too,.....wall hangers

What is interesting Ken, is I've seen that houndstooth top material on just more than one Gran Coupe over the years?
