Quote:
Pull your #1 pulg. Put your finger over the hole and bump the motor over until it blows your finger off the hole. If your timing mark is at TDC look at where your rotor is pointing and that will either be #1 or 180* out. Wire your distributor Counter clock wise 18436572. Then try to start. If it pops oiut the carb then lift the distrib up enoungh to move the rotor 180* and you should be good. You determine where #1 is.
If it blows your finger off the hole then the rotor will be pointing approximately to #1. Wire #1 lined up with the rotor and it will NOT be 180 out. But you can flip the distributor 180 if you would like #1 to be on the other side of the cap.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

when it blows your finger off the hole then slightly turn the crank to where the timing marks are at 10 BTDC then turn dist until a reluctor tip is even with the magnet but a hair past(the reluctor tip is JUST moving away from being centered with the magnet).Snug the dist down at that point just enough so you can turn it by hand but it wont move on it's own. route the wires CCW as mentioned from where the rotor is at.
