Fendertag and the VIN say it's a Hemi car, the number stamped on the body will match the number on the fendertag , it should be 8 B 051537. The only way to tie it to the VIN though is with the Broadcast sheet, IBM card, window sticker or dealer paperwork.

This is how I decode the Fender Tag. Reading from bottom row up:

XS29 = Charger 2dr Hard Top
73 = 426 2x4bbl V8 425 hp
5 = 3 speed Auto Trans
45 = F70x15 Red Line Nylon Belted Tires
C15 = Scheduled Production Date = Dec 15, 1967
051537 = Shipping Orfder Number

Next Row
5 = Drip Rail Nouldings
0 = Body Belt Mouldings
8 = Wheel lip Mouldings
48 = Rear Axle 3.23 ratio Sure Grip
C6X = Black Vinyl Bucket Seats
MM1 = Exterior Color - Bronze Metallic
B = Upper Door Frame Color - Black
9 = Stripe Delete

Next Row:
1 = 26" Radiator
9 = Front Disc Brakes
1 = Clean Air Package (Calif Car)
8 = Rear Window Defogger
6 = Rear Seat Speaker
1 = Radio AM Music Master Economy
7 = Clock w/Tachometer
1 = Tinted Glass (all)
C = ??

Next Row:
6 = Center Console
4 = Bucket Seats
7 = Fender Mounted Turn Signals
6 = Drivers Side Remote Mirror
1 = Sold Car (ordered)

I'm not sure about the "C" in the 3rd row up as you have it located. If it is an 8 under the Z then it is the "Performance Hood Treatment.

Hi Jim hows retired Life? Wagner was here a few months ago checking up on me hes loving Florida, still his same pleasant self lol NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on the Esta that place breaks things. Where is the build or broadcast sheet? Under the rear seat? All the other data seems about right the car is bronze with black Vinyl roof has R/T badges has Magnum wheels on it but also has the steelies with a set of very old redlines and dogdishes It shows 16,000 on the odometer, it has been repainted and has the tail stripe, also do those motor numbers seem correct?

XS29 = Charger R/T 2dr Hard Top
73 = 426 2x4bbl V8 425 hp
5 = 395 = 3 speed Auto Trans
45 = F70x15 Red Line Nylon Cord Tires (no belted tires - YET) Goodyear SPEEDWAY
C15 = Scheduled Production Date = Friday Dec 15, 1967
051537 = Shipping Order Number

Next Row
5 = 535 = Drip Rail Mouldings
0 = 540 = Body Belt Mouldings
8 = 548 = Wheel lip Mouldings
48 = 404 & 408 = Rear Axle 3.23 ratio Sure Grip
C6X = Black Vinyl Bucket Seats
MM1 = Exterior Color - Bronze Metallic
B = Upper Door Frame Color - Black
9 = 319 = Stripe Delete

Next Row:
A/1 = 491 = 26" Radiator
D/9 = 479 = Front Disc Brakes
H/1 = 451 = Power Brakes
***** K/8 = 458 = Power Windows OR
N/8 = 418 = Rear Window Defogger
P/6 = 426 = Rear Seat Speaker
R/1 = 421 = Radio AM Music Master Economy
T/7 = 577 = Clock w/Tachometer
X/1 = 521 = Tinted Glass (all)
Y/6 = 306 = Vinyl Top - BLACK

Next Row:
a/6 = 486 = Center Console
b/4 = 564 = Bucket Seats
h/7 = 517 = Fender Mounted Turn Signals
***** OR k/7 = 537 = RH mirror
m/6 = 536 = Drivers Side Remote Mirror
u/1 = 591 = Sold Car (ordered)

Motor casting # 2468330-1 RL underneath it Motor Stamping Number 426232300297 (1 digit too many?)
426 = 426 cu. in.
2323 = engine assembly date - Thursday, December 7, 1967
00297 = engine unit number
Engine date sounds correct - There should be a partial VIN# on top by the oil sending unit.

Would love to see pics of or get sidewall info & dates off of the red line tires!! Is there a SPARE?

This car sounds identical to one I looked at in Pa. about a dozen years ago. It was an original driver but I couldn't come up with the money. It ended up in Texas.

It was bronze, black vinyl top and interior with stripe delete.

Chi town and 6bbl thanks for your help I believe its either a well done clone or the real thing This car was owned by the current owners husband for about 10 or so years he recently passed away she said he traded a Superbird for it I still have some doubts about it as the vin tag is upside down and only being held on by one rivet shes not sure what shes going to do with it at this time but thanks for the data
