I guess I should have mentioned you should test fit the intake 1st no matter what. Some need paper some do not. It sucks to have you goop in place, pan in place, drop the intake an it doesn't fit and you have to run to the store for a $12 part. My brand new RPM (on an old build) had to be milled .030 to fit on a stock 906 headed 440. I think the rule of thumb is, lay the intake on if all te bolt holes line up use the pan only, anything else might require paper and or milling of the intake.
