Axles are 30 spline, so the side gears are too. Some pinions have 10 splines for the yoke. What's a C&P?

I'm guessing he meant R&P ring & pinion

I'm also wondering if the axle in question is very early & not really an 8.75 at all, Chrysler had a similar axle in the 50's that could be mistaken for an 8.75...

To the original poster is there a number cast on the side of the carrier? 8.75's were 657 (Early) 741, 742 & 489

As the previous poster mentioned the early 8.75's did have a 10 spline pinion but the axles should be 30 spline..
