The salt air in Hawaii is highly corrosive, and as you can see from the pics, cars there rust from the top down as opposed to the typical bottom-up East Coast rust.
License plate looks like an Oahu plate, as Big Island (Hawai'i) should start with an H (Kaua'i = K, Maui = M),
but it's probably not a critical fact. There was a track outside Hilo, ran maybe once a month. There was also a track on Maui & Oahu. They may still exist, don't know
Seems odd to me that there are no sliders for the leaf springs, and I don't see the typical large fuel plumbing, both of which were fairly common in that era.
Wouldn't surprise me if the car needs a full re-body and the motor's rusted solid; what a shame.
