I have video footage of this car running off the track into the spectator stands and resulting in a little boy losing his life. Richard never returned back to drag racing after that.
Wes, all of us that love the 65 Barracuda have probably seen that footage or heard about it. Petty was on a hiatus from oval track racing and built the Cuda for some match racing which was very popular at the time. Maybe his credintuals as a great GN driver did not prepare him for the wild beast that the Cuda surely was. I dont know all the particualrs(track, driver, car??)...does anybody? Chime in if you do.
