I torqued mine to 21 ft-lbs, and I had 4 back off and bend pushrods...not sure if I torqued them on the base of the cam though.

retightened in car, after replacing bent pushrods with a long handled 3/8" ratchet to "very snug", haven't had a problem since in over 10k miles.
