You might be able to get that info from the DMV, depending on the state.
Here in California, no way. But I got my 68 383 Barracuda convertible in Arkansas and, at the time, the state kept records of all transaction on the car since new. I also got the transfer/shipping document from Chrysler to the original dealer in Arkansas.
I'm betting that this would only happen in a smaller state that could handle a relatively small number of records.
