They were made separately and assemblied so they can be disassembled, don't know if they make replacements or if you have to scavenge used one, but everything can be replaced/repaired/rebuilt. JUst take your time and be very careful. Sometimes when I can't figure out how something comes apart, I get a total junk one and then dismantle it however I have to, to understand how it fits together.
