Literature that came with the pan says it reduces trans temp 20 to 50 degrees. So you are getting rid of some trans heat at the source before it ever gets to the radiator and coolers out front.

this is a very good idea but the biggest heat source is the torque convertor and it pumps fluid to the cooler before it gets back to the pan .

Okay, sounds like my thinking was bass ackwards. Not the first time (or last) . But still, any heat shed beneath the car is heat you are getting out of the cooling system eventually.
