I want to put a later model transmission and rear end in my 1961 Chrysler. I want to get away from the driveshaft drum brake and the tapered axles and have a real park position in the transmission. I want to keep the push button transmission controls, and I know the 1965 transmission was the last one to use cable shift. Can I shift the 1965 727 torqueflite with the push buttons in my chrysler? If this won't work, does anybody know of any way to use a later model transmission with the push buttons and cable shift?

Also, can anyone tell me if later model C-body disk brakes will fit my 61 New Yorker?
