(1) No because if you made the downstream side(s) a parallel circuit it'd change the ohms (& therefore the current which would make both gauges read inaccurate. (2) It'd I believe peg on one end (open or grounded) but I'd have a helper to pull the wire before it pegs as you watch the gauge & tell him when. Might not hurt it but it's on my list of (electrical) things to avoid. live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth
