When I compare the two distributors, the rotor position on the new one is about 90 degrees off from where the old one is. This will obviously cause me to have to change the position of my oil pump drive gear. Seems strange. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it fine to just rotate the drive gear so that the rotor points to the #1 wire at TDC?

Yes I got the same

you can turn around/rotate wires at cap OR spind the oil shaft... that last is what I made to keep same stock look outside and same cap code
