Mine's a little backyard-ish.

I welded to the back of the waterpump enough to actually touch the cover. I measured the thickness of the cover. With the waterpump on, but not the cover I measured the gap between the button and the waterpump, and shimmed the button accordingly, subtracting the thickness of the cover for the actual end-play.
