Wild Bill is correct everything goes through the pan, depending on what kind of access you have its not that bad. I'm at work right now, but if you look at the post that says Engine installed in Valiant (page 2-3) you can see my pan in 1 of the pics. My whole front end comes off so its easy for me. And a pickle fork is a must to remove the center link if its been on there a while esp for the first time after that they are not as bad. I had to relocate the hole in my pan (milodon) due to engine set back. The 440 source also makes a pan w/ hole in it.
