Not true.

Even a main hoop has 2 bends, the halo bar has at least two bends, roof bars going to the back trying to keep them tight to the headliner usually have AT LEAST two bends each.

Here are some pics of mine. My buddy John did a lot of the fab work. Front bars are under the inner fenders. Bars go through the dash. Cross bar under the dash, halo bar above the top of the side windows, rear bars tight to the roof.

You can't completely hide it all, but you can do it pretty well. The sunshade at the top of the windshield hides the halo bar from the front view, but it's pretty tough to hide the a-pillar bars from a front view...
