Has anybody you know of stroked a 325? Could you get close to 390 ci with a welded stroker, you think?

325 Dodge hemi already has a 3.80" stroke. To get 390 cubes, you'd need about a 4.5" stroke.

Problem with the early Dodge hemi is that its bore center-to-center distance - 4.1875 inches - is one of the smallest of any V-8 ever (the Ford 4.6-5.4 modular V-8 is smaller).

By comparison, a SBC is 4.40 inches, SB Mopar is 4.46, and a BB Mopar is 4.80 inches.

So all the early Dodge hemis are small-bore engines, and the small bore limits its cubic inch potential.

The early De Soto hemi was also limited in size potential, just not quite as limited as the Dodge. Its 4.3125" bore center distance you will note is still less than either a small block Chevy or Mopar.

And just FYI, the Chrysler 331-354-392 hemi had a 4.5625" bore spacing.
