This is directly from Damon Kuhn at Diamondback:

"Double check them before you fire (cold)-they should be .004 or so (+/-.002) LOOSER than the spec- warm it up and adjust to spec- turn it by hand or bump it on the starter unntil the exhaust for the cylinder you are adjusting is just beginning to open- adjust the intake to spec at that point. Then roll all the way thru the exhaust opening and closing and the intake opening and when it is almost closed or just barely closed (in that range) , adjust the exhaust. Doing it this way insures the most accurate setting and allows going from front to rear on the drivers side and the same on the passenger side- you should only have to turn more than a bump when doing number 8"
