We used to have like 3 of the older models, that we got for like $15 each or something crazy. They worked ok, but can only be used on long straight, FLAT roads if you want to get a semi accurate reading, I never was able to get any solid data out of mine.

I'd just go to the track. Safer and easier in the long run.
