My advice is to buy a core on ebag or craigslist or on Moparts. Send it to be rebuilt. Then take the dash all apart when the new one shows up.
It solves several problems.
1 Your VIN tag is not detatched from the your car for a long period of time.
2 Stuff gets lost when it is apart for sometime no matter how well you try to keep track of it.
3 Remembering how to put it back together and how the harness wires are routed, etc is easier. (Especially for guys like me with CRS)

When you are done, sell the core to another guy so he can do the same.
It worked well for me except I still have a core and have not had time to sell it
