No need to replace anything except possibly the axle seals if it was wet at the flange. Clean it with spray brake clean and reinstall. Be sure to add the suregrip aditive with the rearend lube.

It's a peg-leg. Hence the "open gearing".

So I picked up my BBP 8.75 a couple days ago. It's from a 66-70 B-body, so it should fit under the Demon without much hassle. It's a 742 case open 2.94 center section

I took it all apart, and this is what I found:

Before taking it apart, I turned over the gearset from the pinion. No backlash either direction from the pinion itself, and the axles turned nicely.

I took the axles out first and checked the splines. No issues with the splines that I can tell. No chipping, warping, or twisting.

I took the chunk out to look at it (and count the gearset) and it looks good inside. All the teeth look fine.

So i need a little schooling on what I need to/should replace, what I need to/should buy, and how to clean it well!

it will slide right in.... you will be limited with stock wheels.....

What I'm worried about is buying the right parts. I'm missing the brake backing plates (I have an 8.25" axle with the backing plates, will those work?). I'm also missing all of the drum hardware.

What do you mean by "limited with the stock wheels?"
