is antifreeze that much worse than oil or trans fluid or gear lube? our cars are filled with the slickest substances known to man. how about synthetics? i run antifreeze in my car. i drive it to the track, and i'm NOT going to run water only. i check and maintain my cooling system to the best of my human abilities, and say my prayers. if i get banned, oh well, it is a street car.

That's a poor analogy...

On several accounts. For one, the motor/trans won't run without oil so you have to run oil. Also, aside from a pressurized source, the engine likely won't pour oil. Your cooling system will just as easily run with water as it would antifreeze. Also many more opportunities for a failure. Heater hoses, core plugs, rad hoses, the radiator, etc.

Also, the rear usually won't pour gear oil all over the track unless it explpoded. Even a bad pinion seal won't drip much oil, as it would if you popped a rad hose and dumped 3 gallons of coolant on the track.
