I need a block thats strong enough to handle 800-1,000 hp. going to be a street and strip car. Who's got the most cost effective? Don't have money to waste but my 505 just busted the mains out the stock 440 block.

The KP blocks are very nice, and IMO more strong that about any other blocks out there, other than CG World blocks.
But cost effective will go to the Iron World block. It will easily handle those power levels and another 50% you can throw at it.
They are in the $2500-$2800 range, semi finished. The larger bore blocks are no more money. Its hard not to go 4.5 bore for the same money.
The KP blocks and dont quote me on this are in the $3600-$3900 range. The Indy and if still available KB aluminum blocks for a few hundred more.
This Hemi block has finished lifter bores, cross bolt mains, still needs finished honed for piston fit. The block is as delivered around a 4.490 bore. And IIRC it will need about .014-.017 honed for proper piston fit. Deck surfaces are squared and can be run as is, but I recommend and will deck my block just a hair to maintain proper piston to deck height, and to have proper finish for good seal.
Troy at West Oaks delivered this stuff for me and was great to deal with, and prices that were awesome. But That major country's largest Mopar Performance dealer fell to the country tightening economy.
Anyways here are some World Block pics...also I will throw a link in for the KP blocks which if money isnt a issue by all means
