Can I suggest as an alternative long-term solution that you purchase a stock appearance voltage regulator that has solid state internals compatible with an electronic ignition conversion? The only restriction is a maximum of a 65 amp output alternator. I have been using and selling these for several years and they work great. Email me for more information or check out my ebay auction, item # 180401817992. $25 shipped to your door via priority mail. Payment by PayPal, check or postal money order.

For a short-term solution, you might be able to find an electronic/solid state voltage regulator that does not look correct at your local parts store. I think AutoZone has them. Alternatively, yes, you can use the 70 style voltage regulator and in fact, you might be able to purchase a new 70 style plug end from your local parts store.
