My 451" stroker with B-1 B/S heads was 11:1 compression. but no quench as the pistons were dished. I also ran a 160 thermostat.
Ran good on pump gas, but I think it was on the edge? Once on a 95+ degree day when the engine temps got around 200 degrees, it pinged a bit under full throttle. At the track I would run 1/4 tank of 110 octane race gas with 3/4 tank pump gas just to be safe.
