I have installed a ton of these clamps over the years. They are very reliable, IF, you install them properly.

Couple of things to consider...

The primary area of problem with these are two fold. You have to install them properly. DON'T overextend them, and try not to take them repeatedly on and off. Also, use the proper pliers for the job. If you use a pair of Channellocks, you are probably going to ruin the clamp.

Also make sure that the pipe the hose goes over is not distorted. Most people have problems with the connection at the firewall to the heater core. The pipes are easily damaged if a pair of pliers is used to remove the hose. The pipe then becomes distorted and the clamp has a hard time sealing. Make a small slice in the hose and gently twist the hose off. Then if you need to reattach the hose, cut it back an inch or so to get rid of the slice and expose fresh area of the hose. Doing it this way ensures the pipe will still be nice and round.

One nice thing about spring style clamps(both Corbin and strap style) is that they are self compensating. Worm style clamps cannot accomodate this, and you will often see some seepage from hoses during the colder months and the need to retighten the worm gear clamp. The spring sytle clamps are able to compensate for this.
