Met a couple of guys last Saturday while at Capitol's T&T who came down from NY/NJ to check out the track. They're YT "personalities" (my term, not theirs) who have an "America vs The World" event scheduled to run at Capitol in mid April and are inviting all the bee ess talking social media people to bring their exotics, BMWs, JDMs, Mustangs, Mopars, etc. for track day and eliminations for bragging rights.

I hadn't made a pass yet when NY came over looking for someone to run NJ's 2024 Mustang which had been going 12.0s that day. He asked me how fast my 1320 is and I told him it runs 12.0s give or take depending upon the weather and track conditions. Truthfully, when I hit Capitol a few weeks ago I could only get 12.1 and slower running on my stock Nexen DRs, so I wasn't yanking his chain. On Saturday morning I swapped out the stock wheels & tires for my spare set w/ MT front & rear meats since I've vowed to never try to run on 20" tires again.

NY is for the most part a Mopar guy and NJ is definitely a Phord phan, so there was some joking around about how my car was a Demon without a blower, etc. NJ didn't run the best tires for the conditions, so I wasn't expecting him to hook up anyway. Him running 12.0s on "non drag" radials was pretty good IMO and he was pulling more MPH than I typically run, too. I figured it would be fun, if not interesting. I resisted telling him he'd need to go find his testicles after we raced cuz I was gonna cut 'em off at the tree, but it would have fit the tone of the conversation.

----- Me ---- NJ
RT -- .025 -- .468
60 -- 1.717 - 1.900
660 - 7.585 - 7.850
MPH - 91.95 - 92.61
1320 - 11.857 - 12.047
MPH - 114.94 - 117.36
MOV - .633

Someone was taking pics at the event and I took a screenshot of this pass... looks like I'm out on him already by about 2 cars.

At first they said they wanted to re-run me that day, but later on said we could do it at their "America vs The World" event in a few weeks after NJ got some better tires on it. I said sure, but after I got home I looked at the signup cost for the event and saw it was $150 to pre-register / $200 at the gate. Keep in mind there is no $ being paid out here; it's basically a glorified track rental for a bunch of people to talk sh!t and take it out on the track.

I think I'm gonna skip it for that price, since the way they've got the event set up I'd have to be one of the fastest 8 in the 11.00 - 11.99 bracket to even qualify for the trophy elimination rounds. Doesn't take much change in the weather for my 1320 to not even be capable of getting into the 11s... very sensitive to atmospheric conditions and track prep, unfortunately, and they're not advertising a 12.00 or slower class.

I also found out later that NJ has owned a number of much faster late-model Mustangs (e.g. a 9-sec GT500), so his 2024 GT is probably his daily driver. He'd said something about having owned 8-sec cars, but I didn't see anything that fast posted by him when I looked. I saw a vid where he was way better on the tree, so I probably caught him on a bad pass from RT standpoint. I haven't been very consistent lately, either.
