Another vote for cardboard. Since my 50 year old Crapsman creeper finally broke a wheel I have been using cardboard. It has a couple of advantages for me. I am not as thin as I used to be so the extra couple inches helps. The deceased previous owner of our home manufactured dulcimers and shipped them all over the world. The attic of our garage has bundles of brand new shipping boxes. They have never been folded so there must be about 50 in each bundle. Endless supply of big doubled cardboard for me. At my age I'll probably never buy another creeper
