In addition to NOT using any chemical sealant what-so-ever, since this gasket design has a metal internal core, it truly has very little compressability... barely any forgiveness to out-of-flat conditions. SO... make absolutely certain that your oil pan is FLAT at the side rails... fix or replace it IF the bolt holes are distorted from previous over-tightening, etc.
