The race cars for the "contract racers" (factory-backed guys) were often built up from a body-in-white and parts shipped from Chrysler.
A buddy of mine was a contract racer back in the '65-'66 era, and has stories about Chrysler air-freighting all kinds of stuff based on post-race Monday morning phone debriefs.
So, documenting a race car can differ from a street version, especially in the case of race cars that didn't get VINs.
