waaay back in the mid 70's, a buddy of mine and i "started" the trend of painting EVERYTHING body color.
when i would get a car in at my junkyard that was good enough to fix and flip, i would contact my buddy, and he would round up all his leftover paint from his body shop. mix it all up until we got the neat-o color we wanted, then spray away after masking the windows and lights. no chrome for us !

each car we did that way sold FAST !
i don't know if it was the colors we came up with, or the price we put on the car. we also included a pint or so [or what ever was left of the "custom" mix] for touch up. good luck matching up the color.

at least we take credit for "giving" the manufactures "our" idea.
