The morning following the first night we awoke to the Fairview PD all over the parking lot. I 'm going to say at least 20 vehicles had their side windows broken and the interior's rifled through. Fortunately ours wasn't one of them likely because we had left NOTHING in the vehicle. One of the hotel clerks was beaten unconscious while emptying the trash about 2:30 AM due to the perps thinking he noticed them. A guest had also been assaulted when his silent alarm went of and he tried to intervene. Lastly, another guest who was quite upset at the business as his truck and trailer had been nailed. The clerk kept stating they were not responsible and there were signs posted to that effect. The PD had to intervene
as he was not taking no for an answer. They wound up handcuffing him, and stuffed him in the back of a cruiser. He was still in it as we left shruggy
A few of the officers said it was a "NORMAL" weekend and they were to understaffed to do much about it. One commented they even tried having a unit repeatedly circle the area but apparently lookouts would alert the thieves who of course when then hide until the cruiser left the lot and they would resume their activities. He said if your staying here another night leave the doors unlocked, you glove box etc. open and they'll likely leave your car alone. NICE!! He also commented that the perps would hit every motel / Hotel on both sides of the interstate.
We checked out and went another 25-30 miles east (forget the name of the town / exit) and had no further issues.
Maybe they have figured out a solution to the problem (I could think of several at the time) and was quite shocked by everyone's responses' (The Motel and PD)
And the other poster is right, it looks like a nice fairly new retail area with shops, motels, eating, gas etc. But late at night on the weekends it was a hotspot.
Just wanted to give a head's up to anyone attending the event beer
