I would put up my 85 Shelby Charger turbo 5-speed against ANY other Charger made before in the twisties, and probably would do just fine in straight line performance with most too... Not now of course, it don't look so hot nowadays...
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.
