Got a few pictures for you.
The one on top is a four speed console. Hopefully you can see the cutout that needs to done to make it fit. The top plate is available after market nowadays. They used to be pretty hard to find.

Like what was suggested, find a 71-74 console and cut it up. Sell your 70 if you need to help pay for the cheaper 71-74s
