How come they won´t divulge this necessary info??
I believe its required by law to at least be on the new tire sticker, how you force the issue before purchase, is beyond me. Only applicable exception I can think of is if tire is clearly marked "Race only,"" or "not foe use on public roads".
Its not an end all, be all number anyway. kinda like trying to judge how fast a car is by only asking its weight.
