I have a deep TCI pan with the factory style PG filter and extension. I switched over to the Chrysler filter and the new adapter only bolted to the larger port on the valve body. The small square port on the valve body was left open so I figured it was a return or bypass of some kind. I wanted to make sure before I filled it up with fluid.

This makes me think the square hole should NOT be blocked/covered.
If it discharges fluid from the regulator, that might keep out any debris from wearing clutches, etc.
