The retainer on my 727 tailshaft had been cut off which allowed the l/r rod to remove itself from the trans on launch.... we won that round and as we were in the pits we suddenly were met with a trail of trans fluid. We quickly jacked it up and started inspecting and found an empty hole at the rear of the trans. We dropped the pan where we were greeted by the l/r band strut and associated hardware.... the pin was recovered from the track and we tried in vain to get all that krap lined up and the pin back in place. I finally grabbed all the components, brake cleaned them and taped them all together with gorilla tape, and guided them into place and wiggled the pin back in. Luckily there was a large oil down so we had time to get this project completed in time for round 2. Adjusted the band, filled the fluid, threw away our t-shirts and continued to race for two days. Serviced the trans when I got home and all the thread from the gorilla tape was on the filter laugh2
