If you don't switch to the aluminum plate you will continue to have problems. The issue is the different expansion rates of the aluminum intake and the steel plate. It just tears the gasket. This is the reason they went to a MLS head gasket on engines with aluminum heads. MLS means Multi layer steel in case you didn't know.
