I'd hate to see you wreck the 98 to pull the Cummins out of. I hate the sound of a V8 Diesel, it's just like nails on a chalkboard. Too bad a 4BT is a bit small for what you want to do. Dad and my Uncle ran 8V92 Detroit's for years...pretty sweet sound Yeah but those old Detroits were a 2 stroke engine.
