The quality of the cars is still high , but the numbers are down.
We went some years back and I was disturbed to see Ed Roth , alone in a corner , while the line to see Vern Troyer was a block long.
It was at the peak of the Mini Me thing and Vern was hot with the kids...........I wandered toward the front of the line and bellowed loud enough to be heard for 30 people in any direction " Is this the line for the midget toss ? "
The parents were horrified.
Then I went to hang with Ed for around 45 minutes , mostly undisturbed.
I bought a bunch of merch and he happily signed it all , and like a dunce , I didn't get anything for myself.
But I related an exchange we shared a few years before that , mid 80's ........I was driving truck and rolling on I-15 from Vegas to L.A. , he was coming home from SEMA and another driver and him were jabbering on the C.B.
This driver was well versed in his work and had a buddy who owned one of his old cars.
I sat there and listened mostly , but that was one of the coolest road stories I have , and I have a few.
When I saw him at World of Wheels , I was floored that he didn't have a line in front of him.
Really nice guy , and a true legend.
I will go , but the GSTA ( Gopher State Timing association )show is where I will see friends and find out all the latest gossip. lol
