As for the reliability and durability of the smaller bearings, I wouldn't be concerned as I've raced very hard for 30+ years of actual competition pylon autocrossing (SCCA, etc), as well as recent years of very hard hi-speed road course events (HSAX/HPDE). When I've just now taken the old small bearings out, they still looked excellent and didn't have any problems.

The larger bearings are perhaps better for extended durability, but I've had no problems with the smaller bearings from very hard racing (AX/HSAX/HPDE)/driving.
