I would like to know how much difference in driveshaft yoke to transmission spline engagement is acceptable when not using a correct factory length driveshaft. In other words, if you wanted to use a driveshaft from a car that is a little shorter than the factory installed driveshaft that another car originally had, how much shorter can be considered adequate for engagement of the splines? Would a 1/4" shorter driveshaft be OK or would that be considered too much of a difference? The trans. is a 727 if it matters.
