At the tops of the wheel tubs and at the middle of the rear axle hump, the sealant changed from black, tar based, non-drying in front to white sealant in the trunk that dried and hardened. This sealant was also applied before painting.

Both the black and white sealants were applied to the body shell as one assembly just before painting.

Sealants in the engine bay are different from the black and white sealants mentioned above. A non-tar based sealant oozed out of the cowl pinch weld. Another non-tar based sealant was used on the cowl, and balls of sealant were used at the corners of the engine bay. A white sealant similar to what was used in the trunk was used on the fenders near the adjustable hood bumper and also on the undersides of the trunk and hood edge seams.
