I am installing a scatter shield and 4 speed transmission. The scatter shield came with grade 8 lock washers, flat washers and bolts to bolt the bellhousing to the block. Should I use the lock washers or just the flat washers? I know the factory only used flat washers. I have read that lock washers could come loose with time. Should I also use lock washers on the transmission or a star washer? Any recommendations.
IMO I would use exactly of what the manufacture sent you, they know better than us. Why not? Lock washers work in many applications.
