Yes, they are different, currently I have a non GTX release on my GTX and it is not pretty...functional...but not pretty, sticks forward like it's got it's tongue sticking out but it's all I had, years ago I took a bird shot to the grille and had to change to a Belvedere grille which necessitated the release change also, somewhere over the years I lost the correct release, haven't been able to find one yet. Below pics shows what mine currently looks like.
